Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ted Uffen, and I am a management systems consultant. In the last 16 years, I've helped over 100 businesses achieve and maintain registration to various management system standards, as well as doing other consulting.

Please understand my background. I graduated from the original Mechanical Engineering Technology (Mobile Equipment) course conducted at Fanshawe College in London Ontario in 1978. I then proceeded into a position with the Department of National Defence Quality Assurance (QA) Division.

I spent approximately 18 years in that role. I've worked with everything from cotton work gloves, and silverware for the Sergeant's mess, all manner of vehicles (armoured and otherwise), optical systems, radar units, aircraft and space shuttle components, food products - you name it and I've probably had the good fortune to have worked with the product. In that time, I advanced to the point of being the civilian equivalent of a Major and in charge of all the Defence procurement from Woodstock to Windsor.

Since leaving that world in 1996, I became a consultant in Management Systems. I started out working with the ISO 9000:1994 series, and have evolved into many others, including:

a)   QS 9000

b)   M1003 - Railroad Rolling Stock

c)   ISO 13488

d)   ISO 14001

e)   ISO 9001:2000

f)    ISO 13485 - for Medical Devices

g)   ISO/TS 16949 - Automotive

h)   ISO 9001:2008 - General business

i)     ISO 18000 - Health & Safety

j)     ISO 22000 - Food safety.

I also perform tasks such as bridge management, providing management support to a company while they select another full time manager, designing plant layouts, and providing general business consulting services. I've helped nearly 100 businesses achieve compliance / registration to one or another of these Standards. More often than not, I've also helped them to become more effective, more efficient, and more consistent in the manner in which they perform their tasks and serve the needs of their clients and customers.
